The average length of stay for guest reservations in April has grown compared to last year for the majority of analyzed markets. Many of our Key Data partners have reported that they are extending stays for renters who keep their reservations.
Urban markets have seen the largest year over year increase in the average length of stay, with the Washington D.C. metro area experiencing a 4 day increase. The Outer Banks did not see a change in April, likely due to the seasonality of that market. Greater Orlando had the greatest year over year decrease in the average length of stay with a -1 day change.
All markets are likely experiencing shifts in the composition, motivation, and feeder markets. Changes in the average length of stay is just one of the many indicators that will be different this year.
